I’ve always loved Black and White,

But I gotta tell ya, it’s been quite a slog geting back on that ‘interest train’. Depression and Confusion really do get a gal good when not ready for it.

I’m grateful to have such an energetic partner, he’s always doing something, and I am often right behind. This past month or so, we’ve been around the state learning and exploring, and damn has it been very enlightening. Learning about the Oak Savannah in South-Eastern Oregon was quite the treat, and the photos I got out of it all was also quite refreshing!

Not shooting Black and White has been a longer episode than I usally have. But I feel like escaping what I know is always good and fun, if not aggravating and exhausting! I’ve always struggled with understanding colors, and remembering them especially. So when you get a roll of color negatives, and have to convert them, remember how much red, green, or blue should be in any spot. Matching tones is stressful, and exhausting, and I find myself constantly going back to make the colors look a little less off, though when I’m done, and go back to compare the changes I’ve made, they’re either very off, or almost entirely the same.

But black and white? Noir et blanc? Super simple, just gotta focus on texture, light, contrast, and subject/focus. Also I feel it just fits me best in general due to my odd color-disability-that-isn’t-a-disability-in-real-terms-but-still-kinda-disabling-to-my-abilities-to-recall.

Instead of having a secondary thought, I shall provide my favorite shots from the Oak Savannah!
